Delete Your VocabFlow Account
This page explains how to request deletion of your VocabFlow account and the data associated with it. There are two ways to do it: directly in the app (immediate), or by email (if you no longer have access to the app).
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your learning history, progress, streaks and saved words are removed along with your account. Make sure you have exported or noted anything you want to keep before you continue.
Option 1 — Delete your account in the app (fastest)
Your account is deleted immediately, no waiting and no request to approve.
- Open the VocabFlow app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner to open the side menu.
- Select Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Read the warning, type delete in the confirmation field to confirm, and tap DELETE ACCOUNT.
You are signed out straight away and your account can no longer be used to sign in.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
Use this if you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in.
Or write to privacy@vocabflow.net from the email address registered with your account, and include:
- The email address registered with your VocabFlow account
- The sign-in method you used (email and password, Google, or Apple)
- A short statement that you are requesting deletion of your account
We may ask you to verify your identity before we act on the request — this protects your account from deletion by someone else. We respond within 30 days of receiving the request, as required by the GDPR.
What is deleted, and what is kept
When your account is deleted, the data below is handled as follows.
Deleted immediately
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Email address | Erased from your account record |
| Username / display name | Erased from your account record |
| Password (stored only as a hash) | Erased |
| Google / Apple sign-in identifier | Erased — the social account is unlinked |
| Profile picture (avatar) | Erased |
| Sign-in sessions and pending email / password-reset links | Invalidated; the account can no longer be signed in to |
Deleted within 30 days
| Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Learning history, word progress and review schedules | Removed within 30 days of deletion |
| Statistics, streaks and saved word lists | Removed within 30 days of deletion |
| Push notification registrations | Removed within 30 days of deletion |
Kept after deletion
| Data | Why it is kept | Retention period |
|---|---|---|
| Crash logs and technical error logs | Service stability and security diagnostics; not linked to your identity once the account is removed | 90 days, then purged automatically |
| Support and deletion-request correspondence | Proof that the request was received and handled | 2 years from last contact |
| Purchase and transaction records (if you bought a subscription) | Legally required accounting and tax records | As required by applicable law (typically up to 7 years) |
| Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics | Product analytics — cannot be traced back to you or re-identified | Indefinitely |
If you have a paid subscription
Deleting your VocabFlow account does not automatically cancel a subscription bought through the app store — subscriptions are managed by Google Play or Apple, not by us. Cancel it first, otherwise billing continues:
- Android: Google Play app → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → VocabFlow → Cancel subscription
- iOS: Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → VocabFlow → Cancel Subscription
Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account, and deleting your account does not entitle you to a refund of an active subscription period. Refunds are handled by the relevant app store.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
If you would rather remove specific data — for example your learning history — while keeping your account, email privacy@vocabflow.net describing what you want removed. The same 30-day response time applies.
